Who developed this and why?
The magstripe MRI project was initiated at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance due to frustration over existing MR-compatible EEG equipment. After the publication of an eye-opening paper by Anami and co-workers it became clear that high-quality EEGs can be recorded using surplus capacity of the scanners while avoiding many of the problems that complicates normal EEG-fMRI. More information about the persons involved can be found in the section About MRIware.
